July 21, 2026 the Virginia Statewide Injunction on the Assault Firearm Bill goes into effect. Beginning Tuesday July 21, 2026, we will continue sales and transfers of "Assault Firearms" and High Capacity Magazines.

FFL Transfer Process

How to Transfer a Firearm to Cold War Armory

Buying a firearm online is easy. Follow these simple steps:

Step 1 – Purchase Your Firearm

Order your firearm from the online retailer or private seller of your choice. During checkout, select Cold War Armory LLC as your receiving FFL, or have the seller contact us for a copy of our Federal Firearms License. Most larger retailers have our FFL license on file already. If we are not on File , email us 

• Your name

• Phone number

• The seller's email

• Your order number (if available)

And we will take care of license exchange.

Step 2– We Receive Your Firearm

Once your shipment arrives, we'll log it into our Inventory and inspect it. When your transfer is ready, we'll contact you to let you know it’s available for pickup.

Step 3 – Complete the Transfer

At your Pickup, you will:

• Present a valid government-issued photo ID showing your current Virginia address (Example: Virginia Drivers License) For Individuals in the Military your CAC & PCS Orders will establish Residency. Training or Temporary orders are not acceptable for Firearms Purchases.

• Complete ATF Form 4473 & Virginia Form SP-65

• Undergo the required FBI/NICS background check

If approved, you can take your firearm home the same day.

Transfer Fees

• $35 for up to 3 firearms on the same ATF Form 4473.

• $10 for each additional firearm on the same paperwork.

Important Information

• You must be legally eligible to possess the firearm under Federal and Virginia law. You must be 21 years of age to purchase a Pistol, Frame, Receiver, Assault Rifle or items classified as a Firearm (Example: Mossberg Shockwave) You must be 18 Years of age to purchase a Rifle.

• Background checks that are denied or cannot be transferred remain the responsibility of the purchaser, including any return shipping costs charged by the seller. Denials will be charged a $75 Administrative Fee.

• All incoming transfers must include a copy of a Driver's License, State ID, Curio & Relics License or Federal Firearms License along with Customer Name & Phone Number. If you have any questions before ordering, contact us—we're happy to help.
